UBTF Antibodies

UBTF (Upstream Binding Transcription Factor), also known as UBF (Upstream Binding Factor), is a DNA-binding protein involved in the regulation of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) transcription. It is crucial for the transcription of rRNA genes by RNA polymerase I, playing an essential role in ribosome biogenesis and cellular protein synthesis.

Technical Specifications
  • Host Species: UBTF antibodies are commonly produced in rabbits, mice, or goats. Recombinant monoclonal antibodies are also available for enhanced specificity and batch-to-batch consistency.
  • Clonality: Available in both monoclonal and polyclonal forms. Monoclonal antibodies bind to a specific epitope on UBTF, providing high specificity, while polyclonal antibodies recognize multiple epitopes, increasing detection sensitivity.
  • Isotypes: UBTF antibodies typically belong to the IgG isotype, making them compatible with a variety of detection methods and reagents.
Molecular Applications of UBTF Antibodies
  • Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) Transcription Research: UBTF is a key factor in the initiation and regulation of rRNA gene transcription by RNA polymerase I. UBTF antibodies are used to explore how UBTF binds to the rRNA gene promoter and facilitates rRNA synthesis, which is fundamental for ribosome biogenesis and cellular protein production.
  • Cancer Research: Aberrant rRNA synthesis is a hallmark of many cancers, where increased ribosome production supports the enhanced protein synthesis required for rapid cell growth.
  • Cell Growth and Proliferation: Since UBTF is crucial for ribosome biogenesis, it plays an indirect but vital role in cell growth and proliferation. UBTF antibodies are employed in studies aimed at understanding how UBTF activity correlates with cell cycle progression and how its dysregulation contributes to diseases characterized by uncontrolled cell proliferation.

AUBTF antibodies are indispensable tools in the study of ribosome biogenesis, transcriptional regulation, and cancer biology. By allowing the detection and analysis of UBTF protein in various experimental systems, these antibodies help researchers investigate the fundamental processes of rRNA transcription, cell growth, and proliferation. In addition, UBTF antibodies are crucial for understanding how dysregulation of rRNA synthesis contributes to diseases such as cancer, providing potential avenues for therapeutic intervention.
