AICDA Antibodies

Activation-Induced Cytidine Deaminase (AICDA or AID) antibodies are specific immunoglobulins designed to target and bind to the AICDA protein. AICDA plays a pivotal role in the immune system, particularly in the processes of class switch recombination (CSR) and somatic hypermutation (SHM) in B cells, which are essential for antibody diversification.

Content

AICDA is an enzyme that catalyzes the deamination of cytidine to uridine in DNA, initiating the processes of CSR and SHM. These mechanisms allow B cells to modify their antibody genes, enabling the production of antibodies with different isotypes and higher affinities for antigens. Aberrant expression of AICDA is associated with various diseases, including autoimmune disorders, lymphomas, and other cancers.

Applications
  • Western Blotting: AICDA antibodies are used to detect and quantify AICDA protein levels in cell lysates or tissue samples. This helps in studying the regulation of AICDA expression and its role in immune responses, B cell differentiation, and disease states.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): These antibodies are employed in IHC to visualize AICDA localization in tissues, particularly lymphoid organs. This is important for understanding the spatial expression of AICDA in germinal centers where B cell maturation occurs.
  • Flow Cytometry: Flow cytometric assays using AICDA antibodies enable the analysis of AICDA expression at a single-cell level, providing insights into the activation status and differentiation of B cells. This is particularly useful in research focused on immune disorders and hematological malignancies.
  • Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA): ELISA assays using AICDA antibodies facilitate the quantitative analysis of AICDA in various biological samples. This application is valuable for research on immune regulation and the development of diagnostic tools for conditions associated with aberrant AICDA activity.

AICDA antibodies are indispensable tools in immunological and cancer research, enabling the study of complex mechanisms of antibody maturation, immune function, and disease development. They provide valuable insights into the role of AICDA in health and disease, facilitating the development of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
